Nan Adriance is the Vermont Bag Lady. She started her business in 1999 and is the sole proprietor. She lives in Richford, Vermont with her husband and two dogs, Sammie and Chubs. She devotes much of her time to making her unique handbags. Using many different fabrics and styles, her creations are unique and beautiful. She is well known in galleries across the state including Frog Hollow Galleries and attends many shows in New England throughout the seasons. Many of her bags feature her handmade buttons and trim. And Nan is always eager to fill customer orders.
"This month my inspiration for my new designs are men's suits. I have made a collection of bags from 'preloved' wool suits. Using pockets, lapels and cuffs, unique one-of-a-kind bags have emerged! I am also featuring my new line of handmade clay buttons such as the winterberry collection and the pressed leaf design. I am looing forward to sharing my new work with you."
"Inspired at a young age by my mother and grandmothers, I have spooled my imagination through my work. For over ten years now, I have been making wearable works of art. Although my aprons have been popular, my handbags are my favorite-- where it all started. This season I have especially enjoyed working with repurposed clothing; pre-loved, if you will. The suitbags are all one of a kind, each with a distinction all their own. I have also enjoyed expanding my handmade polymer clay button collection and have added working with fusible plastic to create unique jewelry pieces. And finally, natural wool fibers added to the menu for floral pins. There is no end to the imagination!"
